Unlike many nonwoven fabrics, Sontara® uses no binders, chemicals or adhesives. Sontara® takes a different approach with micro-level cleaning fabrics, products that achieve both low particle levels and natural absorbency.

Unlike traditional fabrics, these fibers are not spun into yarns, nor are they woven or knitted. Unlike many other nonwoven fabrics, Sontara® fabrics do not require binders, chemicals or adhesives to hold its fibers together. The fibers used in Sontara® fabrics are inherently absorbent. To make them into fabric, they are entangled with high-pressure, needle-like jets of water. This hydroentangling process continually “washes” the fabric during formation to create an absorbent, lint-free fabric that is strong and uniform. Because wiping needs and required levels of cleanliness differ – even in the same cleanroom – Sontara® offers a range of micro-level cleaning fabrics. For cost effectiveness, it’s important to find the best match between application and fabric.
